2026 edition of the "France Exploration" program

The Science and Technology Department of the Embassy of France in Japan is opening the 2026 edition of the "Japan Exploration" program, which offers mobility support for researchers from French institutions wishing to establish a first contact with Japanese research teams in order to initiate new Franco-Japanese scientific collaborations.
This program is open to researchers/teacher-researchers belonging to laboratories attached to higher education institutions, research organizations or French companies. It should allow them to deepen their knowledge of research activities carried out in Japan in their field of expertise, and to meet with key Japanese players to initiate new scientific collaborations between the two countries.
The call for projects is open to all scientific fields. Students and doctoral students are not eligible.

Key dates for the call are as follows:

• Deadline for submission of applications: Sunday, January 4, 2026, 11:59 p.m. (French time)
• Communication of results: February 2026
• Period of missions in Japan: April to December 2026
