The sixteenth edition of the Summer School “ELyT School” took place from September 1st to September 9th, 2025 in Sendai (Japan), at Tohoku University. 41 students participated in this edition: 21 from Lyon, and 20 from Tohoku University. Many undergraduate students participated (together with few master students) in order to promote the collaboration earlier and to try to attract them for DD master or for students exchanges during their master studies.
The program included scientific activities with 8 seminars given by Japanese and French professors (5 from Tohoku University, 2 from INSA de Lyon and 1 from Centrale Lyon), Lab tours were organized at Tohoku University as well as a visit of the NanoTerasu synchrotron to increase awareness of research that might be of mutual interest.
Group work were carried out by the students (5 groups of 8 or 9 students) on subjects linked to ELyT scientific themes with a final oral presentation:
- Synchrotron
- Biodegradable polymers
- Self-powered rescue signaling
- Renewable energies
- Machine learning
In addition to this rich scientific program cultural activities made it possible to build relationships between young Japanese and French people: Chusonji temple tour, Kintsugi initiation, photo contest...
The French participants are ready to welcome their new friends and other students, for the next edition to be held in Lyon in 2026!
