JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships Grants 2026 : Short-term & Standard
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) is opening calls for young researchers who wish to do a research stay in a Japanese laboratory: the JSPS Short-Term Fellowship 2026 and the JSPS Standard Fellowship 2026.
Short-Term
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) is accepting applications from young researchers who wish to undertake a research internship in a Japanese laboratory. The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) offers 13 Fellowships for young researchers who want to spend 1 to 12 months for a research internship in a Japanese laboratory. The grants are intended for doctoral or post-doctoral students who have defended their thesis for less than 6 years ago (after 2 April 2020). The young researchers must be French or foreigners who have defended their thesis in France and can prove that they have been working for at least three years in a university or research organization in France to apply for this fellowship. All disciplines are concerned. JSPS entrusted CNRS with the evaluation and selection of fellows.
Deadline for application: 10 November 2025
Standard
The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) offers 15 scholarships each year to young researchers who wish to undertake a 12- to 24-month research internship in a Japanese laboratory. The scholarships are intended for doctoral students (nearing the end of their thesis) or post-doctoral researchers who defended their thesis less than six years ago (after 2 April 2020). The young researchers must be French or foreigners who have defended their thesis in France and can prove that they have been working for at least three years in a university or research organization in France to apply for this fellowship.
All disciplines are eligible.
