The 3rd ELyT lab workshop
The 3rd ELyT lab workshop, held in Sendai during 3 days from February 22th to 24th 2011 has been a great success, involving about 100 researchers (among them 35 French attendees) and several industrial partners. This confirms the dynamism of our joint laboratory. Program and some presentations can be downloaded here. The website is regularly updated.
Mr. Frédéric Mitterrand, the French Minister of Culture and Communication, visited Tohoku University on July 15th, 2011 on a way to visit the sites seriously damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake, and gave a interesting and very impressive lecture about friendship between France and Japan through literature and movies.
He taught upon the literature on The Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 how French ambassador felt that the tragedy of the disaster and the friendship had been built up.
He spoke in French with slides in Japanese and many audiences could understand what he would like to convey to Tohoku University by his talk. This lecture was so impressive and the audiences were moved.

We are all encouraged and appreciate your warm and thoughtful action for us. Now we like to report you how much we are helped with them and we never forget your kind offer. Regarding the Kabuto Origami with warm messages, we connected them as a series and bound some of them and displayed at Sendai Railway Station together with Star Festival Displays on Aug. 6-8. Please find PDF files showing how we were working with Kabuto Origami for setting as displays at the Station. You will see how the Kabuto Origami looks like at the station. Together with these photos, we like to show our sincere thanks and appreciation for your kindness and efforts for us. We never forget it.
All the best to all of you,
From ELyT lab. in Japan

In the framework of the CNRS International Lab “LIA ELyT” between Tohoku University, INSA de Lyon and Ecole Centrale de Lyon, Keisuke MAMADA spent a total of 4 months in the Laboratoire de Tribologie et Dynamique des Systèmes (UMR CNRS 5513, Ecole Centrale de Lyon) for the experimental part of his master thesis. This research project is one of the most dynamic projects between LTDS and Institute of Fluid Science of Tohoku University. Papers coming from this research project are under review now and should be published soon. Exchanges of Japanese researchers in France and French researchers in Japan between LTDS and IFS promote the research on the tribology of PVA.
