The 3rd ELyT lab workshop
The 3rd ELyT lab workshop, held in Sendai during 3 days from February 22th to 24th 2011 has been a great success, involving about 100 researchers (among them 35 French attendees) and several industrial partners. This confirms the dynamism of our joint laboratory. Program and some presentations can be downloaded here. The website is regularly updated. The 4th ELyT Lab workshop will be held in France from March 12 to 14, 2012, in Presqu'ile de Giens (south east).
It is the occasion for all the members of our joint Engineering Science Laboratory between Tohoku university (Japan) and Lyon to meet all together and to share our projects progress. This event is particular, as this is the first time we organize such a meeting after the terrible earthquake and tsunami.
Our five main topics will be open:
The workshop will consist in oral presentations of already running joint projects as well as some new topics which could lead to new collaborative projects.
If you belong to Tohoku University, please register here (English version)
If you belong to Université de Lyon, please register here (French version)
Please do as soon as possible your pre-registration, it will facilitate the organization of the meeting...
We hope to see all of of you next March! The organizing committee.
The third ELyT School will be held in Lyon from September 4 to 14, 2011.
About 30 Tohoku University students (18 PhD students and 12 master students) will attend a 11-day session in Lyon. About 10 French students will also attend the school. The lectures will be given by professors of ECL, INSA-Lyon and Tohoku University.
Please find tentative agenda here.
The next annual ELyT lab workshop will be held in Sendai, during 3 days from February 22th to 24th 2011. As it was the case with the 2010 workshop in Annecy, we will have a special session devoted to a transverse topic, "Surface and Interface".
In fact, the five fields covered by ELyT lab are involved in the processing of and / or the properties of interfaces in multi-materials, or of surfaces, to improve and optimize their functionality and use. On the other hand, as one of our goals is to promote interactions and collaborations between academic and industrial teams from our two countries, a session devoted to industrial presentations is scheduled. In addition two plenary lectures are scheduled, one by Prof. Kingo ITAYA, "Atomic Scale Aspects of Electrode/Electrolyte Interfaces" and the other one by Prof Yves BRECHET "Stuctural biomimetics: a parrallel between engineering design and natural materials".
You will find the provisional agenda here.
We expect about 30 French researchers, and about 40 Japanese participants. A the end of this workshop, the annual steering committee of ELyT lab will be held, involving officials from CNRS, Tohoku University, INSA and ECL.
Beside this scientific workshop, the Tohoku University organizes 3 touristic tours nearby Sendai, on Friday 25.
